Pan de Vida
Soup kitchen
Greetings from St. Dominic Savio Youth Ministry
As part of the formation of young people in the youth ministry, we would like to develop in them a sense of Social Justice and Advocacy. One of the ways we are trying to do this is by offering our help as Youth Ministry to the project “Pan de Vida” in East LA. This is a "soup kitchen" managed by the Salesians Sisters. The youth will be helping out the sisters and also providing hospitality to those who are there.
The main idea of our involvement in this project is that by bringing the kids to Pan de Vida, they can feel the importance of being helpful and kind to those less fortunate. However, at the same time they will also see and appreciate how much God blesses them with family and comforts they have at home.
Every first Wednesday of the month a group of adults will take the kids to East LA. We will leave at 3:30 PM and be back at approximately 7:30 PM. We only have places for 5 kids (age 13 up), so if you are interested in letting him/her experience this sharing of their time and faith please e-mail me at mrodriguez@dominicsavio.org a nd let us know. Furthermore, if you would like to be part of this, you are most welcome. We would be glad to have you join us!. |
