St. Dominic Savio Youth Ministry

5:30 Youth Mass Goal

Come and join us, every Sunday at 5:30 PM

To enable Junior High and High School students to experience all the different Lay Ministries associated with Parish Life, including but not limited to Ushering, Lecturing, Hospitality, Eucharistic Ministry, and Music Ministry.  We encourage them to attend Parish Liturgy Committee Meetings, participate in any special Masses at the Parish or in the Archdiocese.  We encourage participating in fundraisers, in order that they may give financially to their Parish and other worthwhile organizations.  We also encourage service work so that they may contribute to their Parish, and community in other ways.

We strive to do all of this in an open, loving, supportive environment.  Constantly reminding them that they are a team and only by working together can they have their Mass succeed to the fullest.  This enables our high school Ministers to continue their Ministry and the practices of their faith as they face the challenges of Young Adults, college, career and beyond.

Become an Altar Server

W hen celebrating the Mass the priest needs some help.  It can be various things like getting things ready for Mass, bringing up the book so the priest can read prayers, setting up the altar before the consecration, or carrying the cross.  All of these assist the priest in making the Mass go smoother. When the Mass goes smoother the priest and the congregation can focus on the true meaning of the Mass.

Become a Lector

Beside the priest, lectors are the readers of the Mass.  They have the opportunity to read the Word of God, the petitions, and some announcements.  By their reading they help the community hear the Written Word of God and the prayers of the community for the week.

Become Eucharistic Minister

The Eucharistic Minister also play a special part in the Mass.  They help the priest present the Body and Blood of Christ to those wishing to receive communion in the congregation. They also bless those coming up not able to receive communion because of age or other reasons. The fact there is more than the priest ministering the Eucharist also helps bring Christ to more of the congregation in a timely manner.

Become Usher

In ushering you will assist at the Mass by  bringing out the song books, showing people to their seats, gathering the collection, directing people on where they need to go during communion, and handing out bulletins at the end of Mass. Again by helping everything go smoother and without confusion it helps the people focus on what going on in the Mass without distractions.

Help us with Hospitality

With Hospitality you will usually be the first people that the congregation sees as they enter the church.  By welcoming the people as they come in, it provides a sense of community and harmony with the congregation.  This is a great attitude to start the Mass.

Come and Join us to experience the best mass ever!
